I purchased this guitar about a month ago and fell in love with it! It looks great! It got here in 5 days, so its very fast service. When i plugged it into my amp, i was very pleased. The sound these pickups produce is very nice! Having said those things, i have played on a Les Paul Standard and a Les Paul Custom(hirer end les paul designs) and they are build with much hirer quality materials and have better pickups. BUT, the Les Paul 100 is still the best guitar for its price i have ever played on! If you have a budget and want a high quality guitar, buy an Epiphone Les Paul 100! -- Great Guitar for the Price
I am very happy with this guitar. it sounds great, its beautiful and it is a lot of fun to just plug into my mac and mess around with on garage band. get it! -- Great guitar!
My title is such because when Amazon shipped the guitar, I was sent the Cherry Sunburst model when I had ordered the Ebony! Amazon got me taken care of almost immediately, so I'm really happy about that.
In any event, the guitar is a GREAT value for the money. It has great tone and sustain, the neck is fast and wide making it easier to play, especially if you have big hands. I had a Squier Strat Standard at one time and it does not even come close to this guitar (or the Epiphone SG-310 I had prior to the LP-100) in quality OR sound. There's just NO comparison.
Speaking of the SG-310, I actually think it sounds a bit better than the LP-100, however, both are very versatile and can play just about any music. Quality and construction are excellent. This is NOT a "beginner" guitar. You can perform live with it and I think it will hold up fine for YEARS!
I miss my SG and will most likely pickup another one very soon, but I don't regret getting another LP (I had one for over 20 years). This truly is an excellent guitar for such a little price.
I've been playing since about '72 and it's easily (along with the SG) one of the best guitars I've owned. You really do get Gibson sound without the Gibson price tag. There are higher-level LP's (and SG's) with the neck thru bodies (the LP-100 and SG-310 have bolt on necks) and I may "move up" someday, but I have no complaints at all with this guitar. Didn't have any with the SG either. Oh, yeah, higher-end models use different/better wood. Just don't think this guitar is the "cheap stuff"...you would be very wrong if you did.
I give it 4 stars because I think the SG-310 beats it in the sound/sustain department...but JUST barely. There's a reason the LP has been a music staple for DECADES and this model carries on that tradition.
All in all, the LP-100 was a VERY wise choice for me. -- Happy at last!
This is a beauity, ya get what ya pay for.
From day one there was a fret buzz, and the pickups are a little muddy.
But they are still better than my squire, nice tone.
I payed $ 20 extra on shipping and it only showed up one day early.
Overall it's awesome! -- Les Paul 100
A guitar for the ages. I used to play guitar over 8 years ago and for some reason, stopped playing and moved on to other things. Just recently, my friend bought a Gibson SG and it was pretty sharp looking. Although, my favorite guitar has always been the les paul. But alot of the gibsons are very expensive until now. At 300$, this is a steal. Everything I expected from Epiphone making a truely genuine les paul. The sound is great, the headstock has a nice bolt on neck look, the ebony finish looks as if it just came out of the shop that day, cool looking volume knobs and the chrome plate finishes. The only thing I would say is the strings will need to be replaced. Mine are a little worn, probably thats what they give you to start but no big deal. Stays in tune all the time and plays very easilly. Definetly would recommend it to any guitarist more or less and expert player but could be for begginers to. 5 stars! -- Solid Guitar
